Concept illustration: Metaphysics

Metaphysics

Metaphysics asks big questions like "What is there?", "What is it like?", and "Why does it exist?" In simple words, metaphysics tries to understand what things are, how they are connected, and what it all means. It explores concepts that are beyond the physical world we can see and touch, such as existence, the concept of time, the nature of objects, and the possibility of an afterlife or spiritual dimensions.

It's like trying to figure out the rules and ingredients of everything that makes up the universe. Metaphysics (which can indicate a religious understanding as well), can be described as the exploration of the ultimate nature of reality, encompassing both the physical and the spiritual realms. It seeks to answer profound questions about existence, the essence of beings, the nature of the universe, the concept of divinity, and the human soul's connection to a higher power or cosmic order. It examines the foundational principles that underlie both the seen and unseen aspects of the world, aiming to uncover the fundamental truths about the universe, its origin, purpose, and the ultimate destiny of its inhabitants. This integrated approach recognizes that understanding the depths of reality requires not only intellectual investigation but also an openness to spiritual or transcendental dimensions proposed by various philosophical and religious traditions.
