Accidental consequences
Parepomenon
In Stoicism, the concept of "accidental consequence" refers to events or circumstances that occur as byproducts of the natural and rational order of the universe, rather than as direct results of an individual's actions or intentions. This idea is closely related to the Stoic understanding of fate, necessity, and the interconnection of all things in the cosmos. Stoicism views the universe as a perfectly ordered system governed by Logos, or Divine Reason, or Universal Nature/Reason.
Within this system, everything happens according to necessity, meaning that all events are interconnected and follow from the fundamental nature of the cosmos. However, not all outcomes are directly intended or desired;
some are "accidental"
in the sense that they occur as necessary byproducts of the actions or decisions that are in accordance with Nature.
