279. One should, as far as possible, distribute one’s property among one’s children while supervising them, so that they do nothing foolish with it. They thus become more thrifty, more eager to acquire, and more competitive. Expenditures in common establishments are less irksome than in private ones, and income there gives less satisfaction.
