235. Those who draw their pleasures from the belly, exceeding proper limits in eating, drinking, or sexual indulgence, enjoy only fleeting pleasures that last merely while they consume, but suffer many pains. For the same desire is always present, and when it is satisfied, the pleasure quickly passes, leaving nothing but a brief enjoyment before the craving returns.
